Drew Roff Head Coach

Drew Roff was hired as the new head coach of Purdue women’s soccer in December 2014, becoming only the second coach in program history.

Roff led Illinois State to six Missouri Valley Conference regular-season titles and five NCAA Tournament appearances while serving as the ISU head coach since 2007.

Roff has been the leader of the Missouri Valley’s Coaching Staff of the Year five times, including three of the last four seasons. The Redbirds have qualified for the NCAA Tournament each of the last four years and advanced to the second round the last two seasons. He has compiled a 98-50-11 mark at ISU and 124-64-12 career record as a collegiate head coach.

Illinois State won both the Missouri Valley regular-season and tournament titles in 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2014. His tenure in Bloomington-Normal began with a three-peat as regular-season conference champs.

Jim Schneiderhahn Assistant Coach

Jim Schneiderhahn begins his first year at Purdue in 2015, making the move to West Lafayette after also serving on Drew Roff’s coaching staff at Illinois State.

Schneiderhahn was an assistant coach at Illinois State from 2011-14. Previously, he was the head coach at Emporia State and Benedictine College in Kansas as well as an assistant at Tulane.

Schneiderhahn was the head coach at Division II Emporia State (Emporia, Kan.) for five seasons from 2006-10. He started his coaching career as a men’s assistant coach at his alma mater, Benedictine College (Atchison, Kan.), in the late 1990s and became the head coach of the women’s program in 2000. The St. Louis native has served as a staff assistant in the United States Youth Soccer Association’s Olympic Development Program since 1996 and was a record-setting goalkeeper during his playing days at Benedictine.

Katie Baumgardner Assistant Coach

Katie Baumgardner begins her first year at Purdue in 2015, making the move to West Lafayette after also serving on Drew Roff’s coaching staff at Illinois State from 2012-2014. Baumgardner is a former Ohio State Buckeye who helped lead Ohio State to a share of the Big Ten title in 2010 and an appearance in the national semifinals at the NCAA College Cup. She was the starting goalkeeper as OSU posted shutouts against St. Francis (Pa.), Dayton and Georgetown in the NCAA Tournament that year. She was named to the College Cup All-Tournament Team after making 10 saves in a 1-0 loss to a Notre Dame team that went on to win the national title.

Baumgardner was part of Illinois State’s four consecutive Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championships and NCAA Tournament appearances from 2011-14. She was recognized as part of the MVC Coaching Staff of the Year in 2013 and 2014 after winning regular-season conference titles both years. Highlighted by a 16-0 mark against MVC rivals the last two seasons, the Redbirds compiled an overall record of 56-24-3 since 2011. Baumgardner also coached Aryn Newsom to Goalkeeper of the Year acclaim in 2013 after the junior compiled a 0.33 goals against average in league play.
